Assistant Controller, FoundationUniversity of Nevada, Reno - Main CampusThe Assistant Controller, Foundation is responsible for the financial management andoversight of nearly 3,800 funds for the Foundation, including over 900 endowment fundstotaling approximately $200 million with new gifts invested quarterly. The AssistantController’s responsibilities include financial accountability and compliance with Federal,State and Nevada system of Higher Education (NSHE) requirements for accounting,taxes and financial management.The University lists this position as a Grade C. Salary is based on experience with therange starting at$48,525 and not to exceed $75,000.Duties to include but not limited to: Responsible for providing documentation toexternal auditors for year-end and interim audit work, scheduling work assignments foraccount reconciliations and preparation of work papers for the annual audit, overseescash and investment management, cash flow projections and budgeting on a daily,monthly, quarterly and annual basis.Provides gift information reports to development directors and deans of colleges on amonthly, quarterly and annual basis.Handles the monthly transfer of funds from the Foundation to the University inconformity with state and university policies and procedures.Responsible for establishing hosting account authority by reviewing the donordocumentation to substantiate hosting approvalAssists with tax return preparation.Works directly with Director of Information Business Process and Information tofacilitate financial statement (end user reports) & executive dashboards.Represents the Foundation in providing guidance and training to fiscal/clerical staffthroughout the university concerning Foundation procedures such as monthly accountbalancing, preparing journal vouchers and other administrative documents.Supervises clerical accounting positions, trains employees, and prioritizes workflow.Required QualificationsBachelor’s Degree and four years or a Master’s Degree and two years of professionalexperience.Experience should include progressively responsible financial management to includecollege, university or governmental accounting and preparing financial statements.
Preferred Qualifications:CPA licensure to include public accounting auditing experience, nonprofit experienceand tax preparation, experience with IRS substantiation rules and Federal or state grantexperience. Problem solving and analytical skills. Knowledge of data analytics.Efficiency and process improvement.
