Overview

Reporting to the Engineering Manager of Cord Products in this position you will supports sales and marketing on new business development initiatives, assesses cost and manufacturability of product and leads product design optimization. This position must interface with the customers, the sales team, business team, and plant engineering. The Advanced Product Engineer provides technical responses to customer complaint inquiries, drives design improvements, cost reductions and product improvement and development initiatives. Core focus will be on Cord Products.

Responsibilities

  • Lead multiple new product development and proficiency projects using stage gate model. Leading their completion from lab scale to commercialization by working with engineering, technology, business and manufacturing teams Tracking and Documenting Handling of Engineering Changes
  • Participate in Business Process Reengineering activities aimed at improving team effectiveness and efficiency
  • Create Designs and Drawings for internal and external customers
  • Participate with the Quality organization and Sales & Marketing on resolving any product quality issues that might arise
  • Identify and evaluate and bring to the table cost savings and product improvement ideas. Follow through on selected ideas to achieve the savings or improvement
  • Participate where necessary in industry standards activities such as UL, CSA, IEEE and NEMA
  • Participate where necessary on internal audits and on audits by regulatory bodies or customers

  • Undergraduate (BS) degree in an appropriate field of Engineering (Electrical, Materials, Mechanical, etc.)
  • Preferably 10+ years professional level engineering experience in automotive or cable industry
  • Experience with ignition cable and/or assemblies design is preferred
  • AutoCAD or other CAD software
  • Compensation and pay grade will be commensurate with experience


Work Environment/Physical Demands:
  • Works out of a normal office environment with standard office equipment available
  • Will be required to sit, bend, kneel, squat, use keyboard, read, write, and speak fluently
  • Employee will regularly be required to lift and carry objects of 10-25 pounds as needed
  • Employee will occasionally be required to lift and carry objects of 25-30 pounds as needed
  • Employee will be required to work productively and cooperatively in a high-volume, fast paced, highly pressured environment and be able to respond efficiently and courteously to unanticipated problems and crisis
  • This role is not typically exposed to adverse environmental conditions, except excessive eye strain and possible lifting injuries
  • When travel is necessary, will be exposed to typical travel environment and surroundings
