We're looking for a Sr. Mgr to lead the Functional Test team within the Enterprise SSD Firmware organization. In this role, you will directly-manage a team of Test Engineers and Test Technicians in the development of test coverage, execution of test/qualification cycles, triaging/debugging of Firmware defects, etc. Indirectly, you will work with multiple offshore Samsung Test Teams to influence and coordinate development of a best-in-class FW test infrastructure. You will participate in all phases of the product life-cycle, and will work closely with the Firmware Team to evolve our test methodology, and develop continuous test coverage improvement. You will also partner with the Test Automation team to ensure our labs maintain 24/7 operation, supporting the continuous integration process, while generating ‘big' data for quality analytics.

  • Champion the Firmware unit test and QA strategy, define the scope of testing within the context of each FW release / delivery, and manage the testing effort (i.e., Technicians/Contractors), project schedules, documentation, etc.
  • Lead debugging and root cause analysis of defects, working in conjunction with the FW Team.
  • Partner with the Customer Integration and Technical Marketing teams to define, develop and deploy appropriate test capabilities, test benches/setups, etc., to accelerate reproduction of Customer failures.
  • Monitor quality metrics and manage continuous test coverage improvement to reduce qualification timelines, while ensuring the highest-quality FW is delivered.

  • Working knowledge of data storage protocols, such as: SAS, SATA, PCIe/NVMe, etc.
  • FW unit and white/black-box Functional test methodology.
  • Demonstrated leadership and people management skills, attention to detail.

  • Able to clearly communicate complex test designs, and solutions, in clear, concise and easily readable format by both technical and non-technical personnel.
  • Ability to coach, mentor and train personnel within a technical organization.
