JOB SUMMARY:

Serves as lead technical operator. Performs activities involving the operation, maintenance and repair of all plant equipment and the building itself. Uses blueprints, schematic diagrams, and work order to complete assignments. Makes primary survey of down equipment to determine what materials, tools, labor and equipment are needed for repairs. Performs other duties as required.
JOB DUTIES:

45% - Essential - Operations and Safety Management:
Serves as specialist in operation of energy plant. Maintains, adjusts and regulates coal, gas, oil boiler, gas turbine, diesel generator, micro turbine, chiller, air pollution and auxiliary equipment to maintain maximum plant efficiency. Monitors operations and maintenance of the different plant systems, including electrical, protection and mechanical. Checks proper operations. Ensures timely maintenance. Complies with State and Federal regulations. Uses computer to receive work assignments and instructions from supervisor. Enters data into computer mainframe concerning maintenance and repair schedules of equipment.

15% - Essential - Preventive Maintenance:
Performs complex preventive maintenance and repairs on the coal and gas boiler, caterpillar, international tractor, turbines and all the auxiliary equipment.

15% - Essential - Water Analysis and Reporting:
Analyzes water for purity and chemical balance. Takes daily level reading and test for turbidity, color, alkalinity, hardness and residual chlorine. Records data and makes necessary adjustments to the system to maintain operational level on the boiler, feed-water, make-up and condensate system. Prepares monthly reports on operations. Keeps supervisor and other staff fully and accurately informed of work progress, including present and potential work problems and suggestions for new or improved ways of addressing problems.

15% - Essential - Training, Personnel and Inventory Management:
Trains and assists personnel in the performance of job tasks, operation, and maintenance repair on the boilers, chillers, turbine, generator, air compressor, pumps and electrical system. Maintains inventory lists and requisition supplies, materials and repair parts from the Central Energy Store Room.

10% - Essential - Housekeeping:
Performs housekeeping duties, including painting, cleaning walls, floors, topside of equipment, coal system area, restroom, control room and chemical lab.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

A high school diploma and trade experience that is directly related to the area of employment.
