Flatiron is seeking an experienced Certified Safety Professional (or comparably certified professional) with teaching skills and field knowledge of the Heavy Civil construction industry. The Safety Trainer will be responsible for teaching all company employees on Federal Safety Compliance in a classroom setting. They will be required to schedule classes, teach and maintain all supplies and materials necessary for compliance training. Periodically, the Safety Training Manager will build Power Point presentations tailored to safety compliance.

  • Ensuring safety compliance by organizing, scheduling and tracking safety training programs
  • Supporting regional, divisional, and district safety managers in completing required training for their employees
  • Preparing and tracking reports on effectiveness and completion of training programs
  • Facilitating ongoing training for staff members
  • Analyzing training needs to recommend new training programs or modify and improve existing programs
  • Developing and implementing HSE training
  • Developing assessments and evaluating training procedures
  • Assuming additional responsibilities as directed by Corporate VP of Health, Safety, and Environment
  • Maintains knowledge of Flatiron's company values and strategic plan
  • Support published corporate policies
  • Perform additional assignments per management's direction
  • Thorough understanding of and ability to enforce all federal, state, local and company regulations
  • Ability to recognize hazardous situations and implement corrective measures
  • Classroom experience teaching safety and federal regulation compliance

  • Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Health and Safety or a related field from an accredited institution and 5 years construction and/or industrial safety experience and/or training is strongly preferred or a minimum of 10+ years field experience in heavy civil construction safety and audits
  • Strong computer skills with working knowledge of microsoft, word, excel, and powerpoint
  • Knowledge of OSHA Federal Regulations
  • Fluent in English and Spanish (speaking, reading and writing) preferred
