Job Description

The Senior Consumer Insights Manager is a critical resource providing and framing up the consumer, shopper, category and brand insights for our growing ethnic frozen food company.




  • Create category, consumer, shopper and brand stories to aid in strategic selling as well as to steer brand strategy and innovation development.
  • Primary contact in collecting and analyzing market, shopper and consumer data, disseminating insights to drive marketing and sales strategies and tactics. Provide action-oriented recommendations to drive profitable sales and share growth.
  • Manage our syndicated data supplier (currently IRI) and custom database as well as other insights suppliers.
  • Evaluate insights needs based upon the business objectives and create and execute a plan to deliver against the objectives.
  • Drive primary research as needed.
  • Lead the analysis and synthesis of quantitative and qualitative findings and deliver compelling storytelling to inform, influence and shape strategy as well as sales presentations.
  • Lead the analysis of brand and category performance via IRI/Nielsen, other tools as needed and internal sales data. Provide recommendations and frame up into compelling sales stories.
      • Manage the IRI custom syndicated database (currently IRI) and restatements.
      • Identify brand, consumer, competitive, category and product trends and frame up the implications and recommendations for our business.
      • Develop a strong understanding of our consumers, business objectives, and brand goals.
      • Track and analyze sales data; publish and present monthly, quarterly, and annual business reviews. Create compelling fact-based sales stories/presentations.
      • Create custom reports, analyses, presentations, and sales materials for Marketing and Sales teams.
      • Track new product performance and advise on future viability.
      • Conduct post-promotional and pricing analyses to help drive business strategies and tactics.
      • Develop insights to drive category management.
      • Provide IRI training for Marketing and Sales teams as needed.
      • Identify opportunities to drive growth.
  • Provide consumer, product, brand, shopper and industry insights to support marketing and sales efforts.

      • Drive a holistic view of the consumer & marketplace.

      • Leverage all data sources (primary and secondary research, shipments and digital tracking) to develop & share-out and present multisource insights syntheses.
      • Assist in the preparation of marketing plans and strategies to drive business decisions based on clear insights .
      • Track and report competitive activity and the implications.
      • Conduct primary and secondary research in support of brand strategies.
      • Support corporate reporting.
      • Manage vendor relationships as well as contract renewals & negotiations.

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing or related field. Advanced degree preferred.
  • 6+ years of relevant work experience with a consumer packaged foods company.
  • Advanced proficiency with either IRI/Nielsen with the ability to garner actionable insights from big data.
  • Experience driving primary consumer research a plus.
  • Advanced proficiency with Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Excellent analytical skills.
  • Self-starter who possesses initiative and is able to work independently.
  • Detail oriented with the ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects at the same time.
  • Strong interpersonal skills; ability to effectively work with a wide variety of people.
  • Ability to create and deliver compelling insights-driven stories/presentations for a wide range of data‚Ķability to see the forest through the trees.
