JOB SUMMARY:

Serves as the Director of Social Media Strategy for the University Relations Division. Leads the social media planning and execution for the University Relations organization as part of a broader communications and marketing effort to promote the Clemson brand, enhance the university's reputation and effectively communicate the university's strategic priorities. Serves as the Chief Social Media Officer for the entire university and will have broad responsibility to create and enforce standards and guidelines for use by communicators across Clemson's colleges, departments and administrative units. Performs other duties as assigned.
JOB DUTIES:

50% - Essential - Social Media Strategy, Leadership and Direction:
Develops, communicates and executes a cohesive social media strategy across the university. Leads social media professionals within University Relations as well as student interns handling the day-to-day social media activities of the organization. Works closely with communications and marketing staff members across the University Relations organization to ensure that their work is properly shared through all appropriate social media channels to earn maximum exposure of key messages to Clemson's key external and internal audiences. Ensures that social media remains a central element of communications work produced by the University Relations organization.

30% - Essential - Chief Social Media Officer:
Serves as "chief social media officer" for Clemson University, providing coaching, training and counsel on issues related to social media across the university. Works with Clemson organizations outside of University Relations to ensure greater amplification of university messages through consistent and effective use of social media. Ensures that Clemson's social media strategy is aligned across all colleges, departments and units.

10% - Essential - Social Media Benchmarking:
Creates and implements a system for tracking key social media success metrics. Utilizes analytical tools associated with social media usage to convey the value of Clemson's social media presence to key internal stakeholders. Advises University Relations leadership on emerging social media tools and tactics.

10% - Essential - Social Media Monitoring:
Works closely with the Director for Engaged Communications and the VP for University Relations to ensure consistent monitoring of, and response to, repetitional risks that arise on social media. Monitors the ever-changing social media landscape and identifies and evaluates the value of emerging social media tools and trends in a timely fashion.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

A bachelor's degree and experience related to the development and dissemination of informational material.

Provides Budget Input - Provides input into the budgeting process, and oversees fund allocation.

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:

Bachelor's degree in communications, marketing, journalism, advertising/new media, English or a closely related field and 5+ years of professional marketing exp. ideally at least 3+ years spent managing social media communities and platforms, as well as experience with digital content/assets and content management.
ADDITIONAL COMMENTS:

Candidates considered for an interview must provide examples/portfolio of work, including but not limited to, social strategic plans, policies and procedures, social content strategy and/or case studies of social campaigns and editorial planning.
