Job Description

Polaris Alpha develops sophisticated data visualization, event analysis, pattern detection, mission planning and mobile software using net centric and enterprise architectures. No job is too large or too small. This position is for a mid-level Systems Engineer on Linux based workstations and servers using the latest virtualization environments. They will be assigned to a SAFe Agile development team and use the latest open source software supporting development infrastructure as a member of the System Team. The candidate will be required to perform system analysis on complex and emergent behavioral systems that directly impact the development teams; identify and resolve issues that affect the operational users; support the analysis of the physical and virtual architectures, and relentlessly improve system efficiency and effectiveness. The candidate must be able understand and support the customer's network designs, configuration, system maintenance, system installation, and troubleshooting of web-based applications in addition to the individual components. The candidate will be expected to understand and integrate hardware and software technologies, poses the ability to think critically, solve problems, and engineer solutions across multiple technologies.

• Create and maintain the VMware vRA & Rancher development infrastructures, supporting continuous integration, automated builds, and scripts to automate deployments
• Create and maintain the Team, System, and Solution demos,
• Create and maintain quality assurance and user acceptance testing (UAT) environments
• Lead infrastructure patching and coordination between Security and Corporate IT for their team
• Act as the Primary Liaison between the Agile development Team and the System Teams
• Participate in daily Agile Team Stand-ups, PI Planning, and in backlog refinement to define integration backlog items
• Assist teams in defining inter-component interfaces
• Assist and participate in the preparation the technical environments, so they adequately reflect the production environments and reliably demo the new solution functionality
• Provide unique understanding and experience related to evolving the solution at deployed sites. Ensure solutions
• Assist System and Solution Engineering in identifying site specific system deficiencies, requirement shortfalls and possible deployment blockers
• Monitor system performance and addressing any problems found
• Optimize various applications and infrastructures, adapting to the specific environment
• Understand network topology, with the ability to communicate local/enterprise network issues with Communication organizations (J6, G6, Signal, Comms, DISA, etc.)
• Conduct various operating system maintenance; ensure that updates are applied and problems addressed for servers using both Windows and Linux operating systems
• Monitor all backup solutions, ensuring that the site can quickly recover from major problems

Required Skills

• Candidate must be a US Citizen
• Security + Certification & a computing environment Certification
• Candidate must possess a current Secret Security clearance
• Bachelor's in technology related discipline or equivalent experience may be accepted in place of degree
• 6 - 10 years' experience administering Linux Operating Systems maintenance and troubleshooting
• Experience in maintaining virtual (VM) environments using VMware vSphere/vCenter

Secret security clearance required

Desired Skills

• Experience with Docker, VMware vRealize, Rancher & Kubernetes, SQL Server, Mongo, PostgreSQL, Elasticsearch, Solr technologies and software.
• Experience with Scaled Agile Software development methodology.
• Experience using Atlassian JIRA
• TS/SCI Clearance

Physical Demands and Working Conditions:
Normal office setting, therefore the noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Work is generally sedentary in nature, but may require standing and walking. Use of hands to operate computer equipment. Frequent near vision use for reading and computer use.
