Primary responsibilities for this role include scheduling, insurance verification, registration, balancing of copay money, and balancing of daily or weekly deposits. This position serves as a resource for other staff, problem solves independently and is self-directed. May do limited amount of coding and charge entry.


Greets members, patients, visitors and others and provide complete and meaningful information. Checks in walk-in patients. Participates in ensuring patient's comfort and personal care activities.

Assesses and collects co-pays. Balances co-pay collections. Prepares bank deposits.

Performs complex scheduling and coordinate visits and/or services required including confirmation calls to patients. Keeps track of "no-show" patients. Also, provides basic information to patients about the clinic such as directions to the building.

Creates new patient packets by interviewing patients to obtain needed demographic, insurance, health and financial information. Ensures all forms are completed/signed for services.

Enters data and produces reports from enrollment, registration, or the results of health procedures.

Pulls, files and/or locates medical records. Assists medical records clerks if needed.

Performs complex patient insurance verification and pre-verification of insurance eligibility. Communicates with insurance companies as needed.

Interfaces with physicians and other staff on a regular basis.

Performs a limited amount of coding and charge entry, including using E-chart, AS400 and other appropriate systems.

Performs various other clerical duties, including but not limited to printing forms, photocopying May, faxing, sorting and delivering mail, answering phones and ordering office supplies and forms.



High School Graduate or GED equivalent.


A minimum of one year of health care experience or equivalent education in at least one of the following areas preferred:

Medical Records/Health Information
Applicable clerical support experience

Familiarity with Medical Terminology

Communications skills.
Keyboard skills and ability to navigate electronic systems applicable to job functions.
