Serves as a senior communications strategist for the Strategic Communications Team. Leads development and implementation of academic communications efforts including highlighting faculty and student achievements. Works with other leaders throughout the university representing Strategic Communications and University Relations. Other duties as assigned.JOB DUTIES
30% - Essential - Strategic Communications Leadership: Provides input as a member of the Associate VP for Strategic Communications leadership team, working closely with the AVP and other senior leaders to direct strategic goals of the department and develop and distribute high-impact communications content through various university and external media.
30% - Essential - Academic Affairs Communications: Leads the Strategic Communications Team efforts to identify and highlight pertinent information in an effort to raise the academic profile of the university. Works in conjunction with the Office of the Provost, administrative units and colleges to establish communication priorities and coordinates content development with Marketing and Brand Services team to create cross-channel content.
20% - Essential - Office of the Provost Communications: Leads the Strategic Communications Team efforts to identify and execute promotion of priority information for the office of the Provost, establishing communication plans in support of Academic Affairs goals and objectives.
15% - Essential - Personnel Management: Provides leadership and direct supervision to members of the Academic Communications Team to support the goals of Strategic Communications and University Relations. Analyzes team structure, work flow and priorities to create efficient and effective processes for high-value projects. Assists AVP with creation of budget requests and salary adjustments.
5% - Essential - Executive Communications: Support the Provost with public engagement opportunities, including internal communication opportunities, speaking engagements, media relations and background briefings.MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor's Degree with six (6) or more years experience in higher education or communications/marketing agency.RESPONSIBILITIES
