Postdoctoral Position (Cell Biology/Virology)
Albert Einstein College of Medicine Bronx, NY, USA
An exciting NIH-funded postdoctoral research opportunity is available in the laboratory of Dr. Margaret Kielian, Professor of Cell Biology and Samuel H. Golding Chair in Microbiology. We use enveloped alphaviruses and flaviviruses as highly developed and medically important systems to study virus-membrane fusion and virus assembly at the molecular level. The project builds on our recent work on the cell biology of alphavirus budding (PLoS Pathogens, 2016, DOI:10.1371/journal.ppat.1006061; J. Virol. 2014, DOI:10.1128/JVI.00592-14 ). We now seek to define the novel viral and cellular mechanisms that generate intercellular extensions and mediate cell-to-cell alphavirus transmission. These studies will use a multidisciplinary approach and take advantage of the collaborative and interactive atmosphere of our lab. Further information and links to publications are on the lab and faculty websites:http://www.einstein.yu.edu/faculty/7896/margaret-kielian/https://sites.google.com/site/kielianlab/Our laboratory is in the Cell Biology Department at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York City ( http://www.einstein.yu.edu/departments/cell-biology/ ). The department has a strong and interactive core of postdoctoral fellows and graduate students working in diverse areas of cell biology. The college has an outstanding academic environment with vigorous NIH Centers of excellence and extensive core research facilities. There is a vibrant and interactive community of postdoctoral fellows at Einstein http://www.einstein.yu.edu/research/belfer-institute/ The college is located in a pleasant residential Bronx community with easy access to the outstanding cultural and recreational opportunities of New York. Subsidized postdoctoral housing is available through the college. The Albert Einstein College of Medicine is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action Employer. All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, age, protected veteran or disabled status, or genetic information.
Postdoctoral Position in the Laboratory of Dr. Pamela Stanley
Albert Einstein College of Medicine Bronx, NY, USA
A NIH-funded POSTDOCTORAL position is available in the laboratory of Pamela Stanley, Professor of Cell Biology at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York. We are identifying specific roles for glycans in the regulation of Notch signaling during T and B cell development. Mice with targeted mutations and co-culture assays have been developed to reveal glycan roles using co-culture assays of T cell development from HSC, and the differentiation of bone marrow HSC in vivo. Identifying independent and synergistic functions for O-glycans in regulating Notch signaling in HSC differentiation is our current focus. A full list of publications may be found at the lab website:http://www.einstein.yu.edu/departments/cell-biology/faculty/stanley/home/The Department of Cell Biology has a strong core of postdoctoral fellows and graduate students working in diverse areas of development, cell biology, immunology and cancer biology. The Department is highly interactive, meets weekly for work-in-progress seminars, and biweekly for a journal club, and hosts numerous outside seminar speakers. http://www.einstein.yu.edu/departments/cell-biology/ There is an interdepartmental immunology journal club. The Albert Einstein College of Medicine (Einstein) is one of the nation's premier institutions for basic research and clinical investigation, with over 200 research laboratories funded by the National Institutes of Health. There are ~220 PhD students, and ~300 postdoctoral fellows at Einstein. Postdoctoral fellows are supported by the Einstein Postdoc Association (http://einsteinpostdocs.info/) and the Belfer Institute (http://www.einstein.yu.edu/research/belfer-institute/) Einstein has several NIH Centers of Excellence and extensive core research facilities that support state-of-the-art research https://www.einstein.yu.edu/research/shared-facilities/ Subsidized postdoctoral housing is available. Einstein is in a low density, residential Bronx community with easy access to City Island, Orchard Beach and all the opportunities of New York City. The Albert Einstein College of Medicine is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action Employer.
