Job Description

The Sierra Club is seeking applicants with strong youth organizing and digital campaign experience who will create and implement strategy for the Sierra Student Coalition's work -- the youth-led chapter of the nation's oldest and largest grassroots environmental organization. You will play a key role developing, coordinating, and executing online email outreach, web-based advocacy, mobile outreach, and online-to-offline integration to engage a broad network of high school and college-aged youth working across the country for just, sustainable communities.

Candidates should have great time-management skills, sharp writing abilities, and a passion for social media. Interpersonal skills are a must to engage activists in running effective campaigns that result in tangible victories and develop leaders for the environmental movement. Candidates should have 3-4 years of online organizing experience, preferably managing a digital campaign and youth volunteers. You should be passionate about building a youth-led grassroots movement that empowers individuals to champion protecting public health, the environment, and quality of life for people across the country.

  • Two to three years’ experience in online organizing or campaigning.
  • Strong background in advocacy or political campaign organizing.
  • Fluent in speaking, writing, and reading skill English required. Spanish language fluency including speaking, writing, and reading preferred.
  • Proficient computer skills and prior experience or aptitude with internet applications including email, constituent relationship management or other related data systems, social networking         systems, mobile platforms and web applications.
  • Excellent writing and editing skills. Demonstrated skills in writing and production of online campaign materials. Good verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills and ability to work effectively in an action-oriented office.
  • Ability to work independently, cooperatively and effectively with public, staff and volunteers.
  • Ability to train staff and volunteers effectively on email, social media, and mobile best practices.
