Job Description

Are you ready to lead the green transportation revolution with Sierra Club? As the nation’s largest and most influential environmental organization, the Sierra Club is an effective leader working strategically to transition the transportation sector from oil to clean power. 

The Sierra Club is seeking applicants with strong digital, organizing, and campaign experience who will create and execute strategy to educate the media, policymakers, and the public about the progress of electric vehicles. Using state-of-the-art tools, you will play a key role organizing, developing, and coordinating online email outreach, web-based advocacy, mobile outreach, and online-to-offline integration of our members and supporters into key advocacy campaigns. 

Candidates should have experience developing an active online network, excellent writing and time-management skills, and knowledge of digital innovation practices. Interpersonal skills are also a must, as this organizer will work with colleagues throughout the Sierra Club as well as coalition partners. This position can be located in Oakland, CA, Chicago, IL, or Washington, DC.

  • 2-3 years of experience in online organizing or campaigning. Strong background in advocacy or political campaign organizing.
  • Strong background in online to offline organizing required.
  • Proficient computer skills and prior experience or aptitude with internet applications including email, constituent relationship management or other related data systems, social networking systems and web applications.
  • Excellent writing and editing skills. Demonstrated skills in writing and production of online campaign materials. Good verbal communication skills – a high level of campaign staff collaboration and satisfaction is expected.
  • Prior experience developing and launching creative web-based applications and activities to drive online activism. 
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills and ability to work effectively in an action-oriented office.
  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment and respond quickly to breaking news while maintaining a high quality level of work.
  • Ability to work independently, cooperatively and effectively with public, staff and volunteers.
